Chicago Postcard
Elston Boys

This project started when I was sitting in a back yard of a two flat in Avondale off of Elston Avenue. I took a picture facing the alley because I thought it was pretty. When thinking of Chicago people usually think of the skyline, navy pier, the bean, or any other landmarks downtown. I wanted to start stressing the beauty of the neighborhoods of Chicago. A fence, trees, and electrical lines in the back alley of Elston CAN be lovely too. Rats and all.

Once I took the picture I sat down and sketched it out on a 5 x 7 piece of paper. I went over that in pen. I transferred and traced it in Illustrator and played around until I had it how I wanted. Then made myself a postcard. I have compiled tons of photos since that I want to make more postcards from. For now, it's the just the Elston boys, but more to come soon..
